Mirrors from the GLOBE collection refer to the forms of the first glass mirrors manufactured in ancient Rome. Mirrors' convexity was their natural feature until the 16th century when flat glass began to be produced.

The COPPERGLOBE mirror is crafted with copper leaves, which create a unique and dynamic pattern with an irregular architecture of cracks and scratches.

The intensive, graphic form results from the conscious and, to some extent, controlled method of applying the leaves.

A spherical mirror is a portion of a sphere that has been cut off by a plane. When light reflects off the surface of the mirror, it is directed outward, resulting in distortion, shrinking, and a wider range of the reflected environment. This type of reflection gives a panoramic and deconstructed view of the surroundings, which is highlighted by an intense copper decor.

COPPERGLOBE can be viewed as an abstract decorative tondo.

Each of our mirrors is unique.

It is a signed craft item with an individual, unique design. Due to the handmade technique used, it is impossible to replicate the decor pattern accurately.

Technique

Manually elaborated in the gilding technique on glass using copper leaves from the Florentine forge Giusto Manetti Battiloro on 5mm-thick Float glass. The convex glass pane is created in cooperation with glassmaker craftsmen. The back of the mirror is specially varnished, enameled, and coated with protective foil. The mirror is glued to a mass-colored, waterproof chipboard equipped with hooks. The board is 4 mm larger than the mirror in size.

Mirrors are made to order.

Each mirror in the series differs from the others and the one presented in the photo. The size, shape, type, and color of glass and the type of finish and decor are constant. Each time, raw, transparent glass is gilded and decorated based on the features of a given series. The product is packed in a plywood box. A mounting pin is included.
